Neuro Linguistic Programming
NLP stands for
Neuro
Linguistic Programming.
It's the study of excellence.
Essentially, NLP is how to use the language of the
mind to consistently achieve specific and desired
outcomes.
NLP was initially created by Richard Bandler and John
Grinder in 1975, who began by developing models based on
top communicators of the time. Their initial intention
was to discover how certain individuals had become
excellent communicators, and to create models of this
behavior, which would then enable them to teach others
how to be as equally as effective. Initially they
studied the likes of Milton Eriksson, Fritz Perls and
Virginia Satir but over the years many other have
contributed to the growth of this field.
From the models in NLP a whole host of techniques
have been created, to enable you to change your thought
processes, behaviors and beliefs, and to remove any
limitations about yourself, allowing you to be the
person you really want to be in life.
NLP is also about having a choice, you can learn to
control how you behave, how to be aware of your
emotional and physical states, and have the power to
determine how you and others communicate and interact by
using verbal and non-verbal language.
NLP removes self-imposed limits. Your mind knows no
limits - it adopts those that you accept consciously.
NLP explores the relationship between how we think (neuro),
how we communicate both verbally and non-verbally
(linguistic) and our patterns of behavior and emotion
(programs).
